The locals of Bernal said this was the spot and they were right! It's just one dude selling his homemade bagels, cream cheese, and babka! The close when he sells out so you might wanna get their first thing in the morning. We got the onion bagel and poppy bagel with scallion cream cheese tub. The bagels have a crunch on the outside but soft on the inside. The onion one was sooo good! You gotta get a tub of cream cheese but there's plenty to take home and use. The weather was nice so we sat at this outdoor seating probably shared by neighboring businesses as well. It's a family area so lots of people and pups! I'm a big fan of chicken dog and I'll be back if I can make it up the hill from the mission.

I was worried since the negative reviews made me fear this place was over hyped -- it's NOT. This place is LEGIT. Their bagels are truly how I love em and what I seek: firm with slight crackle on outside and chewy center. We got 2 cinnamon raisins, 2 bialys, 1 dog logs in onion-- everything was yummy. Likely the best I've had in a while! The only negative is the long line. But we worked out a system where I drop off hubs then I go to the Alemany farmers market and then we meet in the middle somewhere. Makes a great Saturday morning.

Come and stand in line. Got here at 9 am, stood and waited 35 min. We have a well behave group. Not noisy. Dogs sunning in the sun. Babies in their strollers. People walking their dogs. The baker is taking a vacation starting tomorrow and won't be back till August 4th or 8th. Don't come or else you will be disappointed. I got up early today, had an appointment elsewhere, and got here just right. This is a way cross town trek. Got a baily, pumpernickel dog (salty dog), 2 everything, 2 pumpernickel, 1 onion, 1 sesame. Damage $30. Some bagels were still warm. Can't wait to eat them toasted. They take credit card. Only opens 9 am to 11 am Saturdays.

Can me here on a Saturday morning and a short line before he open at 9 AM. During the week it is pre-order only. Nice selections of bagels, cream cheese, smoked salmon. Bialy and dog log. Everything is to go only. Prompt service and good quality owner operator came from Connecticut, but his train in San Francisco It is currently a pop-up, but hopefully he will get a permanent place in the future open only for a few hours a day so plan for it

Definitely the best bagels I've had in SF. I get them by the dozen and toss them in the freezer, like I did in NYC.

I've recently moved to SF from the east coast and have high expectations for my bagels; thankfully, Chicken Dog meets those expectations. Bagels have a great flavor, texture, and consistency. Lookin forward to making this a typical Saturday stop.

Cinnamon babka: so tasty, soft, delicious! I could eat it every day. Bagels: soft yet springy inside, toothsome outside Salmon: pink perfection, flavorful but not fishy Horseradish shallot cream cheese: very yummy, but I personally would've liked more horseradish because I'm a freak like that and I like a kick in the pants when it comes to horseradish Baked goods still warm when I picked them up. I'll definitely be getting more soon!
